A Wonderful World

I see the condition of the environment,
Disappearing forests, halting homeostases,
Vanishing animal species.

I see destructive armies wipe away worlds,
Crippled children, tortured orphans.

And I tell myself, what a wonderful world

I see the bourgeoisie sniggering at the workers,
Stealing food off their tables, while living in plenty.

I see hordes of beggars, starving homeless people,
Survive by picking through rubbish dumps,
Victims of the class struggle.

And I tell myself, what a wonderful world

I see violence against women,
Heroin in veins,
Where will progress take us?
To a collective coffin.

I see sick hatred, wanton evil,
I see that Nazis can’t realize we’re all the same below the skin

I see the wisdom of the West tear the planet apart,
Dictatorship of money,
A world of blind sheep.

And I tell myself, what a wonderful world
